Referential description:
After collecting our visitors we shall drive away into the city centre of Santiago, right into the Santa Lucía hill, which is now a park, and was the first sight the spaniards had of the current Valle del Aconcagua where lays the city of Santiago nowadays.
From there, if our spiritis and strength allows it we shall walk up to the top of the tower of the park.
Descending, we shall drive into Plaza de Armas, where we will be able to observe the facade of the mayor’s office Municipalidad, Museo de Historia Nacional and Correo Central our former government building, and last but not least discover the main cathedral of Chile, the Catedral Metropolitana, altogether they become the city centre of colonial Santiago.
A block away from our colonial centre we find the Museo Precolombino of ancentral chilean cultures and those of america, next the Palacio de la Corte Suprema de Chile and the Antiguo Congreso Nacional facing each other, at the bottom there is the Espacio M, former building for the newspaper El Mercurio, where many little craft cart lay in order to satisfy the visitors curiosity and mabe buy an item or two.
Onto the Palacio de Gobierno, La Moneda, we enter de Barrio cívico the location where our ministerios and National Government palace seats and is the centre of public administration.
From there we can drive away to discover one of our most notorious locations in the city the Funicular to ascend Cerro San Cristobal at the hearth of Barrio Bellavista not long from there, after visiting the virgin atop the hill, we can descend via the cable-car the teleférico, and drive away to discover the amazing Parque Bicentenario.
Another option would be to skip San Cristobal and go straight into the heart of bear, coffees and icecream: Barrio Italia, where happiness was born after the local autorities decided to authorize the turning of old classic residences into hipster-like diners, coffee shops and markets, around some classic furniture restore workshops.
There are number of options for lunch, both downtown and elsewhere: Barrio Lasarria, Barrio Italia, Barrio Manuel Montt, Barrio Alonso de Córdova and the Mercado Urbano Tobalaba (MUT), not to mention Vitacura and Borderío.
Important: Referential description, the tour itself my differ in the order of activities and the visitor can replace some locations with his own preference as long as we don’t go too far from the main guidelines, the tour time remains four hours regardless.
