Description

Description:

8:00 AM pick-up at the hotel. At 9:30 AM we arrive in the town of San José de Maipo to enjoy a delicious local empanada with coffee in front of the main square.

An hour later we continue along the Maipo River, exploring the local village and its vibrant activities, restaurants, hostels, and quarries. We can hear the murmur of the river a short distance away, where the more adventurous brave the cold and the current of the Andean waters in rafts.

We pass by a viewpoint that allows us to admire the river without getting wet and capture our precious photographs.

We continue along what is considered the fork in the road towards the Maipo Volcano, which lies imposingly before us. Upon reaching the mountain range, the landscape becomes both cool and dry, a combination that has inspired more than one work of fiction. The mules, donkeys, and horses that accompany the scene graze silently and peacefully alongside the withered poplars. The earth turns yellow, and nature blends with the modern infrastructure necessary for extractive mining. Water drips from the massifs like tears emanating from the rocks, heralding spring, and the machines hum, indicating that their process continues.

12:00 Upon arriving at the German Club, we make a stop, which could be for lunch or simply to appreciate the view, learn from the rocks, and connect our souls with the spirit of the mountains.

On the return journey, if we haven't eaten, we should stop by Terruño, a local eatery with a taste of its origins that generously and lovingly nourishes even the most enthusiastic palates with the spicy and savory flavors typical of our land, after an exhausting trek. Refreshed with the most delightful locally brewed beers.

At 2:00 PM, we diligently set out to find the best dessert in the area: artisanal chocolate or something similar. There's no shortage of options in such a delightful, rural setting!

At 2:30 PM, with full bellies and happy hearts, we headed back to the hotel to rest a little longer before the next day's adventure.
